'70s Chic

We all want that vintage vibe in our wardrobe. That essence of an era gone by. But we want to cherry pick the sleekest, sexiest, and most stylish looks from it. Of late that’s given us fashion choices that have included the best of the 20s and 30s and seen the rebirth and fading of an 80s revival. Now we’re just about to do it all again, but this time it’s the 1970s that are due for a reinterpretation.

’70s sophisticated day-wear

By day it’s all about clean yet voluminous silhouettes, and earthy ’70s colour palettes - Camel; taupe and rich brown colourings are ideal: Think Diane Von Furstenberg’s Pussybow Blouse tucked into a pair of ultra-wide, high waisted Pringle of Scotland trousers.

This is a look that’s guaranteed to turn an envious head or two.

If you’re after a more casual weekend leisure feel, look no further than MiH! Opt for a cool colour palette of pale blues and neutral shades.

MiH’s Pull-On checked shirt, teamed with the fabulously popular Marakesh, Ultra wide leg jeans and you’ve achieved the 70’s trend in a casual, and more importantly, stylish way.

For those chilly autumnal days when we all realise the wonderful winter weather is fast approaching, it’s time to layer it up. Roll-neck cashmeres, such as Pringle of Scotlands burgundy version coupled with statement jewellery and flared J-Brand cords make for a great combination.

Team this outfit with a wonderful leather trench and you’ll be scoring high on the stylish fashion-stakes. Oakwood’s taupe leather coat with detachable fur collar is the ideal outerwear garment to bring this look together – 70’s inspired and the ultimate in chic winterwear.

Jane Davidson’s Autumn and Winter 2011 showcase at The National Gallery of Scotland…

Wednesday’s showcase heralded one of Jane Davidson’s most triumphant fashion events to date. The wonderfully chic show was organised to say a big Thank You to all of our fabulously loyal customers over the years!

The Girls at Jane Davidson were completely blown away with the guest turn out and the encouraging atmosphere was utterly infectious, we were over the moon with every element of the evening – The venue was fabulous; the flowers were beautiful; the nibbles were delicious and the models were stunning!

We kicked the evening off with splash of fizz and the most fabulously tasty canapés, when the guests were seated we added yet more prosecco and munched on mini portions of fish & chips coupled with a divine goat cheese salad, what more can a girl ask for?

The main event was a manifestation of sheer glamour. Pringle of Scotland started the evenings show, followed by Fabiani Filippi’s stunning knitwear range.

Towards the 3rd and 4th rounds the show upped the glamor stakes with a glimpse of Diane Von Furstenberg AW11 range and then it was the turn of beautifully crafted Erdem.

The show then concluded with a beautiful crescendo of glitziness and sparkle with the wonderful Jenny Packham.

For all of those who made it to the show, we would like to thank you yet again – without your support over the years, The Girls at Jane Davidson would not be able to conduct these wonderful events.
