Denim, DVF, and dreamy dresses...

... these are a few of our favourite things!

If like so many of us your holiday plans have been scuppered by a certain volcano and you’re now contemplating a little spot of retail therapy to dust (yes, I’m afraid, pun intended!) your holiday blues away, then we kind girls here at Jane Davidson thought we would share with you a few of our favourite things this week...

First up is the all time favourite, denim. Denim jeans, denim shirts, denim jackets, denim skirts... black denim, white denim, blue, pink, turquoise... You name it, we love it! And with so many pieces, there’s a whole host of ways to wear it for a very Summer 2010 look! Our MIH blue denim shirt is a particular favourite and looks as great teamed with a pair of MIH or Met chinos for a very relaxed, classic holiday look as it does with Joes black leggings for an edgier, high fashion feel. Equally on trend this season is what Harper’s Bazaar this month is calling ‘seventies chic’- think bell bottoms, tan accessories and, dare I say it, clogs. And not ones to let you down with the trends, our MIH Marrakesh (pictured above on Jessica Alba) and J Brand Love story and Heartbreaker jeans are perfect for working this look - match with one of the many pretty Tucker blouses or frill t-shirts and we’ll find the Farrah Fawcett in you, you didn’t know existed!

Next up, and in some ways not a million miles away from denim, is khaki! Our selection of chinos as well as linen trousers in stone and biscuit colours are a very chic summer alternative to jeans, and look brilliant with oversized shirts, tank t-shirts and boyfriend cardigans for a stylish, off-duty look. But, khaki has proven its more than just combats this season, and we have to say, we’re loving its new glamourous look. The DVF Blynn jacket and Newport trousers in khaki green linen for instance, matched with embellished tops and lots of gold jewellery are perfect for channelling this new age of khaki!

Lastly, and I have to say is a personal favourite (hint: pre-empt my gushing!) is the return of the maxi dress... or perhaps as Harpers have more eloquently called it, ‘long length luxe’! And being surrounded by the many long gowns in store just now, you can imagine I feel like a child in a sweet shop! On one end of the spectrum we have the show stopping silk Jenny Packham, draped, beaded and all things Grecian gowns, as well as our new Jovani floor length, backless and sequined, and oh-so-Beyonce Knowles number (pictured here at the Oscars no less!)... at the other end, we have Halston Heritage purple and green maxis which, tied with a printed scarf around the waist, scream effortless, seventies cool! I warned you I’d gush!

So if jet setting is not to be this week, take comfort in the knowledge that a few tempting treats can be found in store. All in all, the moral of the story - even clouds of volcanic ash can have silver lining!

Love,

The Girls x
