I love the Festival, but I also like to find somewhere to go for some peace and quiet.
If you are of the same mind then pay a visit to the National Museum of Scotland to see their latest exhibition: Catherine the Great: An Enlightened Empress.
Catherine's story is one of humble beginnings and her rise to become one of Russia's most powerful and influential rulers. She amassed one of the largest collections of art the world has ever known, most of which is housed in the State Hermitage in Saint Petersburg.
I had the pleasure of visiting last year and I have never seen luxury on such a grand scale before- definitely one for your bucket list! The pieces which are on show here in Edinburgh will give you a taster of the life of a real woman of steel and substance.
