Maximise your wardrobe!

This week’s Grazia gives a maxi masterclass... and even handpick a certain Halston Heritage favourite of ours!

It was a couple of summers ago that I was first acquainted with the maxi dress, and I’ll admit, it was a cautious meeting at first. Did it make my hips look too big? Was I too short for this? Would people look at me and think ‘what the heck is she wearing’? Did I look like I belonged at Woodstock with flowers in my hair?! However, facing all these fears, I decided to be brave and to invest. You see, it was love at first sight and I was hooked on the idea! Four summers, five maxi dresses and a maxi skirt later, it’s pretty safe to say my relationship with the maxi dress is still going strong. Summer trends have been and gone, but my faithful friend the maxi dress continues to be a summer wardrobe staple.

But it’s not an easy trend, I’ll admit. I am by no means model material so maxi’s have had to be carefully picked. Yes, there have been dalliances with those that never made it to my wardrobe, and yes, they did make my hips look too big, they did make me look too short, I did look at myself and think ‘what the heck am I wearing’! But the good news is – and with Grazia’s maxi masterclass – you can work this trend to your advantage.

So what do they suggest? And what do we have to help you out? The 70’s dressy maxi – perfect for a bit of evening glamour without looking to try-hard, that’s what Grazia say. Our Halston Heritage electric blue and green Carrie gowns fit this bill perfectly. With a cinched in waist and not too voluminous skirt, this dress suits even petites. The floaty maxi, like our new Dom & Ruby black and white gown, is ideal for a fresh, feminine style. With an empire line waist, it will flatter nearly all shapes. The sleek and slinky maxi... perfect for dressing up or dressing down. Think our Halston Heritage black strapless belted number : worn with flats its perfect holiday attire, whilst dressed up with jewellery and a glamorous bag you have a gorgeous eveningwear piece. And of course, perhaps the most iconic maxi dress – the hip hippy maxi. Respect must be paid. We have a great Missoni halterneck in brown and pink spotted print, as well as a Nicole Miller floaty and floral number, just perfect for channelling your inner bohemian cool!

Love,
