And the Duchess wore Roksanda....

Last night as she attended a cocktail reception on her own, the Duchess of Cambridge opted to wear Roksanda Illincic. A new label we are super excited about and have exclusively in Scotland.

Looking gorgeous in Dove grey, with a sophisticated side chignon, the Duchess chose the label of the moment, Roksanda Illincic. This label has also been worn by Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron - cementing it's status as the 'power - label" of the moment.

Roksanda Illincic is a Serbian born graduate of Central St Martin's and we have several of her creations in right now, featuring her ever-so-clever simple pleating details.

We don't have this exact dress as in true austerity-chic style the Duchess has worn this previously,
during her inagural royal tour of LA last year,

Behind the scenes at our AW fashion shoot...

The sun shone yesterday at Dundas Castle as we shot our Autumn/Winter lookbook with our favourite Dutch model, Anna.

These images are cheeky snapshots- to give you a preview of what is to come. Dundas castle proved a breathtaking venue and photographer Mark and model Anna got some stunning shots.

Keep your eyes peeled for the shots being published and of course featuring in our new website which we will unveil soon..... It's all happening at Jane Davidson this Autumn/ Winter season- never a dull moment!

Olympic Success!

How amazing was the Olympic opening ceremony?

It was an incredible celebration, I'm so proud to be British! So, what was your favourite moment??
Mine had to be David Beckham in a speed boat of course. And then there was Mr Bean as well as the haunting 'Abide With Me' which also stood out...there are simply too many highlights to pick just one.

Thank goodness all the many volunteers were thanked, what fantastic memories for those people to have. And let's hope the Queen is resting up today after all her exertions....they did us proud as always!

Lots of Love,

Jane

p.s. all fingers crossed for Mark Cavendish and hopefully the first of many Team GB golds...

Carrying a torch for . . . .

Well, it's finally here.

All eyes will be on London tonight to see who will be the final torchbearer for the London 2012 Olympics.

Amused by some very eloquent, and typically Scottish comments on my bus this morning (none of which I can repeat here, but they were a little negative, to say the least) I confess that I am looking forward to the start of the Games. And the end. As Brits, we do manage to put on a great show when it comes to Ceremony.

Images courtesy of Evening News

With the likes of David Beckham, Steve Redgrave, Muhammad Ali and Daley Thomson all allegedly in the running for igniting the Olympic flame, we shall be breathless in anticipation.

But Sir Roger Bannister is the bookies' favourite ..... who's your money on?

Ibiza Rocks with Colette Dinnigan...

Two weeks today I will , most probably, be sipping a very large mojito by the pool in sunny sunny Ibiza!!!!!!!

The holiday prep has begun (believe me it takes  that long!!!) and as if by magic our glorious Blitz Bonanza starts tomorrow at 9.30 am with up to 70% off on  our summer stock. Some might even say I planned it this way... Ibiza wardrobe watch out - you are about to be spoilt rotten!!

There are simply some very very silly prices that are waiting to be snapped up. So, if like me you are counting down the days (and minutes, and seconds...) until you jet off to the sun why not pop in and treat yourself to a 'should be too good to be true' summer treat.

I've already had a little rummage and spotted a few definites for my suitcase including this gorgeous little number... so cute for those long holiday nights. We also have amazing M Missoni flip flops which are  a complete steal reduced from £55 to £22  available in store.

Ibiza I hope you are ready.... I most certainly will be.

Any fabulous holidays on the horizon? We would love to hear about your plans...

Love,

Nikki

Madonn-ugh? Madonna at Murrayfield - have your say!

Was Madonna en Vogue on Saturday?

Murrayfield was awash on Saturday night with Madonna look-a-likes (and some which were so far removed from Madonna they were quite entertaining!)

Images courtesy of allaboutmadonna.com
Both Sarah and Nikki were in attendance and this mornings review over coffee was one of polar opposites. Nikki felt a little let down to say the least, whereas Sarah loved it.

Reviews of cut short set lists, inappropriate use of fake guns (in sight of recent events in Colorado), lack of 'the songs that made her', and rumours of the sound technician being due his P45 (amongst other complaints) are littering the internet.

Others are more upbeat saying that it was a real spectacle (something Madge has been known for) and that if you don't like her MDNA album why go see her MDNA tour?

So we put the question to you - was it worth the wait for MDNA (sorry, I'm getting into the spirit of it!) to visit Scotland?

Love,

Laura

(Meanwhile, I was sat in my living room in Roseburn with the windows up - unfortunately couldn't hear a thing! Perhaps that was the sound guy's fault too - i'll write in and complain!)

A few of my favourite things - Vince, MiH Jeans and Dries van Noten

WOW. I've returned from a short break away (I'm sure they slightly missed me?!) and I've arrived into a shop full of gorgeous, stunning and - most importantly - wearable stock!

I've sorted my Winter wardrobe already and have a few things on my Wish List (it's now become a MUST HAVE list!) this Vince sweater is beautiful - wear it with skinny jeans an oversized scarf and pumps now or wear under the beautiful Gerard Darel wool coat with suede leggings (also from Vince) and some Karl Donoghue lovelies.

The Dries van Noten cocoon coat is to DIE for - I love the shape (and it's bang on the oversized trend). In my favourite colour, olive green, it will be your piece for this winter. Style with leather leggings, sheepskin lined ankle boots and a great cashmere polo at you're set.

The MiH Jeans main A/W collection has arrived and everyone is pining after this slouch tux - Fiona and I are in a fierce battle over it - and the oversized silk/cotton mix shirt in buttermilk... and we've got the MiH Paris in classic black! The Jean Jeanie's greatest request!

Finally (I promise!) I am in LOVE with this little shoulder bag from Diane von Furstenberg - EVERY season should be leopard print season.

Whatever you are fancying, we've got it (trust me!) and it's about to fly out the door.

Our Autumn/Winter will be available online soon so keep your eyes peeled!

Love,

Fashion Show

Last night we hosted our first Autumn/Winter fashion show of the season.

It was an event which showcased all the amazing new designers we are stocking such as Roksanda Ilincic and mainline Escada, whilst returning to some good old Jane Davidson classics as well...Fabiana Filippi!

If you weren't with us at the show, fear not, we took some sneaky backstage photos to show you the best looks of the night. If you were at the show, did you enjoy it as much as we did?

Emma is looking great in this forest green Gerard Darel dress.

This gorgeous coat just came in from Collette!

Fabiana Filippi - I don't need to say anything else... it always looks amazing.

We just couldn't help ourselves - more Fabiana!

Trust us, this colour is going to be huge again this Autumn. Better stock up now!

This beautiful look is from M Missoni - perfection.

We love this classic rain coat from M Missoni.

We move onto Dries Van Noten with this stunning coat, a very special piece.

If you are looking for a new coat this winter, look no further than this beautiful one from Pringle.

This coat from Escada is really two coats in one! It is reversible so you could wear it leather side out one day and fur the next.

Another brilliant tux suit from Escada.

We are loving the new Escada, my favourite piece is this leather top dress.

We are proud to say that we are the exclusive stockist of Roksanda Ilincic in Scotland and you can see why! These dresses are AMAZING!!!

Thank you Roksanda!

You can never go wrong with Talbot Runhof!

See what I mean!? Another beautiful dress from Talbot Runhof.

Lots of Love,

Fat Bottomed Girls

Having signed up for the Race for Life again last Sunday, I opted for just the 5k, considering that 4 years have passed since I did the 10k, which just about killed me.

Shouldn't have worried......

The mere distress of being stuck behind some Enormous Bottoms in tiny, tight, skinny leggings, only made worse by the obligatory tiny pink tutus, spurred me on to overtake them like a speeding bullet!

Now, I know that being in the fashion industry might make me a little critical, but really???

Perhaps just a size bigger in the leggings? Or a vest that's a teensier bit longer?

But the sun shined and we all survived. Raised lots of money. Had a laugh. After all, what else is it all about?

Rihanna - Styled to Rock?

Rihanna is launching a new TV show called 'Styled to Rock'.

The idea behind the show is that British designers will compete against each other in weekly challenges, each week the challenge will be to design an outfit for a different celebrity. We think that it sounds like a bad version of Project Runway, however we will definitely be watching to see what it's like!

Rihanna when talking about the show said that she loved fashion and it had helped shape the artist she is today. My question is, does looking great in a pair of hot pants and trainers qualify you to judge the cut and quality of a designers work?!

Working along side Riri on the show is Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud and designer Henry Holland - a very interesting mix of people.

You can watch a clip of the show here - and let us know, will you be watching Styled to Rock?

Lots of Love,
Megan xx

Duchess of Cambridge's first modelling assignment

Or is it?
My attention was caught by the cover of the South African version of Marie Claire. I had read that Kate - Duchess of Cambridge has refused to pose for any magazine (even Vogue!) So how could this be?
Well it seems that they have been a bit cheeky and used an illustration of Kate. Bit unfair I think. They have dressed her up in local designer collections which I have to say are kind of awful.
It got me thinking though...which British designer would I dress Kate in?
As she is known for her "austerity chic" I have picked a British bargain from our Summer Sale.
This gorgeous Goat dress is reduced from £495 to £198 (a whopping 60% off!) and we know she looks great in yellow.
Just like the Queen!

Roksanda Rocks!

There comes a time in every woman's life when she has a need for a really amazing dress

Maybe you want to impress someone, maybe you have a special occasion or maybe it's a 'what the hell, I need a treat' moment.

Whatever it may be, Roksanda Ilincic is the go to designer for that oh so special dream dress. And it just so happens that we (Exclusive Scottish Stockists!)  have received our first delivery of the jaw dropping gems in store today!

The British based designer has dressed everyone from Michelle Obama to Florence Welch, and with her fantastic instinct for drape, colour and what women really want from an occasion dress, you can be sure that the best dressed ladies in Edinburgh won't be far behind.

Will you be one of them?...

Edinburgh Online Fashion Week

In October Scotland will debut it's first ever fashion week, the Edinburgh Online Fashion Week.

Yes, you read that right, an ONLINE fashion week.

The event will have 5 themed days including established designers, high street labels, independent boutiques and student designs. Each day will broadcast up to 5 collections and they can be streamed anywhere via your laptop, phone or tablet.

Is Scotland finally being put on the fashion map and being an innovator with an online fashion week? Or, do you think that this is just an easy way out of staging a real fashion week?

I personally am really excited to follow this event. I think that there are so many talented designers and fashionable people in Scotland that it is about time we were proud of what we do and show it to the rest of the world.

Lots of love,

Megan xx

Man Up the Don Draper Way...

A friend and I were recently having a chat about the very 'hot' summer we ladies are having
and by 'hot', I am in no way talking about the weather, but the steady stream of sexy men that the media has presented to us of late.

First there was Christian (Shades Of) Grey, who lets be honest, has had most of the female population going for more than one early night!. Then on Wednesday we had the pleasure of going to the cinema to watch Magic Mike (OMG, GO AND SEE IT!), and it was pretty much a packed house.

My friend and I were jokingly making the point that the average man must really be feeling the pressure right now lol.... The more I think about it though, the more I wonder what is all this fantasy leading to?

Do we now expect our men to not only be as experienced as Grey, buff as Channing Tatum and also have the dance moves to match?!

With Vogue forecasting the return of the masculine power suit for women in the seasons to come, as has happened before in times of financial extremes, I feel that the mood is becoming less Joan Holloway and more Don Draper.

Just one question? do we have the b**l's to pull it off?!

Beg, Borrow or Steal

Chloe Sevigny was discussing with magazine OUT  how difficult it is to borrow clothes from designers- even for big, high profile events.

At her latest premier she requested 20 items - only two were sent to her. While some people believe it's a given celebrities will be offered free clothes (Chloe's obviously one of them!) Nikki think's as a 'style icon' Chloe should put her hand in her own pocket and pay for her own clothes and stop complaining...

Courtesy of Style.com
We imagine it to be so easy - especially for someone like Sevigny who is a designer in her own right - to showcase a designers latest collection?!

But it got us thinking - if you could borrow ANYTHING from ANY designer what would it be - and most importantly where would you like to be seen wearing it?

Courtesy of Talbot Runhof

I would like to borrow the beautiful Talbot Runhof leather detail cocktail dress we've just received in (above) and wear it to an evening garden party (only if the weather was dry!).

What about you?

Love,

Laura

Baby Bloggers

Flicking through Grazia at lunch time today I came across a new trend on the rise......baby bloggers.
Of course a trend which I think started in New York the fashionistas are getting younger and younger.

Having had a daughter I know from a young age she would pick what she wanted to wear, and for an easy life she got to wear her creations. I am sure most parents out there have experienced the same, it is after all a part of growing up and making choices, learning to be independent which I think we should encourage. But I am not sure about blogging at the age of six. Does anyone else agree ?

Bryn me that right now!

It's official...I am in utter bag lust mode.

Just spotted Mulberry's new bag on the arm of Keira Knightley and have to have it. Now, Keira Knightley quite frankly I could leave behind, but her new arm candy is to die for!!!

My personal fave is the oversized Bryn in shiny black grain...SWOON!!!!!

Is it bad that my Christmas list is already looking full?

Has Kate Lost Her Crown?

What do you think of when you think of Kate Moss? Style queen? Model Mum? Rock n' Roll wife?

Recently we can't quite put our finger on what's wrong with Kate.

In the last few pics we've seen of her, we've been left feeling a little...well...deflated! Usually the style guru is working the perfect mix of chic and casual, looking like she's not tried too hard but hard enough. What do you think? Has she gone a little too far?

Kate - come back!

We miss you!!

Get Knitted!

Ok, ok! I've moved on to the new season.
It's not just the horrid weather that has made me decide to leave the summer well and truly behind, but the amazing pieces of knitwear that have been arriving into the store.

I'm in love with an M Missoni dress in the most delicious autumn colours, and every lovely piece of Fabiana Filippi we have on the rail!

We all know that knitwear is something we can indulge in without feeling guilty, for the simple reason that we are sure to get more than enough wear out of it... even in July!

Meet Archie...

I'm sorry to disappoint. This blog isn't about the latest 'It' handbag or celebrity scandal. It's about the newest member of the Jane Davidson team!

Meet Archie, a new member to the Willis' household, an 8 week-old mini wire haired daschund! I've gone a bit puppy crazy lately discussing just how deliciously wrinkly his feet are and how big his ears are in comparison to his head - but after arriving last night I just had to share a few snaps with everyone!

With one 3 year old daschund, who's photo is below (see totally in love!) named stella, at home the last 12 hours have been interesting to say the least!

Hope this cheers you up on a miserably wet Friday afternoon.

Have a great weekend!

Love,

Laura
